![]() This is what you need to show QUEST: mplayer dvb://QUEST. There is no timer recording easily available as there is with dvbjet so mere mortals like me need to record in real time BUT the recordings play back with a larger screen size and do not need another utility to be running. Again programme titles with spaces need inverted commas around them e.g. mplayer dvb://Yesterday will play the FReeview channel called Yesterday. this can also contain a config file which you can add to if you know what you are doing which I do not. mplayer needs a nf file in a directory called ".mplayer". The screen size was still small but at leat I had sound. I deleted that and downloasded an earler version from the Raspberry Pi repository. I did try to download the latest version of mplayer but all it would produce was a small screen about one-sixth the size of a full screen) and no sound. If you press TAB, you can cycle through what is recorded. The command to enter into the Terminal is mplayer output.mts (the file you saved earlier using dvbjet 3=642000000). If you want to see and/or hear what has been recorded use mplayer. TV or radio stations with a space or spaces need inverted commas around them e.g. The "0 0 0" part of the command gives some control over timings of saved recordings. The compress part of the command is painfully slow on a Raspberry Pi3. I do not know how useful much of the information given might be. Look at python3 mpegts for other commands. Python3 mpegts output.mts Pick save "some memorable title" 0 0 will give a title to something saved from a TV channel Python3 mpegts output.mts 22208 will give details of the TV channel called Pick by using its program pid ID instead of its channel name Python3 mpegts output.mts Pick will give details of the TV channel Pick including hexadecimal values for the video pid and the audio pid Python3 mpegts output.mts will generate a list of all the programmes contained within the saved 642000000 frequency file Python3 mpegts will show what the utility can do At this stage you can start using the mpegts part of DVBdirect. There is no warning that dvbjet is doing anything so do not leave it running for too long. If you type "dvbjet output.mts 3=642000000" and leave it running for a few minutes, you will download all the TV and radio programmes t ransmitted on that 642000000 frequency onto your SD card. Note that the space between the 8 of bandwidth and the colon before program is critical. ![]() Vlc dvb-t (or dvb-2:)://frequency=(usually 9 figures:bandwidth=8 :program=(the last figures on the channel details) You can use the command line to show a TV station in the following manner: Delete the values between the frequency and the first of the pids at the end BUT remember that the bandwidth for UK stations is 8. ![]() You will probably need to extend the first cell which contains the station name so that the other staion names can be seen in full. Open up Libre Office Calc, go to the extreme top left of the page and paste it in. If you want to make a list of important details open up nf and save it. It sems that more than one programme can be saved within a 24 hour hour period as long as the programme times do not overlap. A nf file is expected to be present in the directory where the video file is saved. pids= is followed by the video and audio pids (These are at the end of the channel details, the last but two and the last but one). ts after the video name seems to be essential. The information for the TV channel can be taken from the nf file.A typical QUEST recording command from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter using the nf file would look like this:ĭvbjet /home/pi/Videos/AussiGH4.ts 3=642000000 pids=6929,6930 start=21:00 end=22:00 ![]() Recordings need path/to/savetitle.ts, frequency, video pid, audio pid start time end time. Since I do not record many non-BBC Freeview programmes I do not need tvheadend. What is really good about dvbjet is the fact that it is the only dvb utility I know of that allows me to make timed recordings. To download dvbjet and mpegts enter the following three lines into a Terminal: I have now found out that you have to enter "python3 mpegts + extra commands" into a Terminal. My technical skills are very limited but I am quite good at ferreting out information. This was down loaded together with a program called mpegts and I explained that I could not get it to work. Recently I started a thread called no tvheadend in which I mentioned a very useful program called dvbjet which could make timed recordings of HD channels. ![]()
